St. Paul's Outreach Committee is currently involved in several ongoing
projects.
The Food Pantry continues to serve an average of 75 families each
Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 11:00; in addition, 14 shut-ins at
Maple Oaks Apts. have their food delivered monthly.
The Outreach Committee has undertaken a project each November in support of the oncology unit of our neighbor, Wellmont-Holston Valley Hospital. These patients are often long term and require repeated visits and as a result, their families often spend long periods of time with their loved ones. The purpose of this project is to provide some comfort to the patients and their families. St. Paul's parishioners provide afternoon refreshments, read at night, lead Sunday afternoon worship and provide a Thanksgiving dinner, complete with turnkey, ham and all the trimmings. Our Sunday School youth serenade the unit on a Sunday morning to the delight of all. This is a worthy project and all who have volunteered have treasured the special times they have shared with the staff, patients and families of the oncology unit.
St. Paul's participates in the Salvation Army feeding program, and
will serve meals at lunch on Saturday, and 4 pm on Sunday on our
weekends. Contact: Beverley Howard if you have a couple of hours to spare for this fine outreach.
St. Paul's conducts a cooking team and a driving team
for Meals on Wheels. Contact: Bob Peace if you would like
to cook once a month.
St. Paul's Outreach Committee meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 7
pm in the Kent Room, and we're always looking for new members and new
ideas.
